Project at a glance
Twente Airport is a former military airfield in the East of The Netherlands, which recently reopened as a civil airfield. The airport is a part of “Technology Base”, a campus development for high-tech and circular business activity with an aviation-focused profile.
Twente Airport repositions itself to connect the Twente region with the rest of the world for business aviation, whilst also offering a unique environment for new economic activity in the aviation sector, such as Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO), specialistic cargo operations and aerospace research.
AirportCreators is involved in translating Twente Airport’s ambitions into a modular spatial development plan, which takes both short-term demand and long-term opportunities into account. Extra attention has been paid to building a robust phasing strategy. This ensures that short-term and smaller developments can be accommodated without unneccessary (dis)investment, whilst maintaining a high degree of flexibility to accomodate long-term and larger developments.
Our Work:
- Development of an airside masterplan in partnership with Twente Airport and Technology Base
